Profile: Ben Cornfoot
In-schools Facilitator
Ben is a Brisbane-based theatre-maker with several years professional experience as a playwright, director, actor and workshop facilitator. Since 2005 Ben has been a member of Lightwire Theatre, training extensively in Clown and Commedia dell’arte, and touring throughout Australia performing shows and delivering workshops in primary and secondary schools.
He has toured with Nexus Arts, based in Melbourne, and the Queensland Arts Council, in Cafe Floriani, The Spirit of the Mask and Thoughts Have Feelings Too – co-writing the latter, which was originally commissioned by the Mental Health Association. Ben’s other writing credits include Bill and Gerald on the Bridge (Sydney Short and Sweet ’09), The Fool’s Journey (Judith Wright Centre ’06), Roland in Space (Ten by Ten Squared, JWC ’08), and two pantomimes for the South Bank Xmas Celebrations (Santa and the Naughty Elf, Where is Santa?). Directing work includes A Picture of Us, Glue, Darby and Joan Have Brekky (Ten by Ten Sq. ’08, ’09), and several rehearsed play readings for the Emerge Project. Ben has a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Education. He regularly conducts workshops in Clown, Commedia, scriptwriting and comedy and has worked in that capacity for QTC, Lightwire and Backbone Youth Arts.
